General musings

  • Deep freeze …

It was 3 degrees where I live this morning — 3 degrees. And I don’t even want to think about what the wind chill was. I went outside, and my face just hurt from the cold. Brrr!

Yes, Virginia, it can get mighty cold down here in the South. And we’re not even getting the worst of it. One of my friends lives up near Erie, Pa. I’m betting her temps were well below zero this morning.

I plan to hibernate in my house this weekend, clean off my desk, and crank out (hopefully) several thousand words on my YA fantasy, Quiver.

What about you guys? How are you beating the cold? Share in the comments.

  • New year … new stuff?

I’ve been thinking about my blog lately and what sorts of posts I can do in 2009. And I thought I would ask you guys for some feedback. I try to post a little bit of everything here, from book reviews to stuff I think is weird/interesting to my latest news.

What would you guys like to see more of on the blog? More posts on writing? More snippets of my works-in-progress? More reviews? More book-related articles? Share in the comments. I’ll take suggestions under advisement. 😎

  • Finito for another year …

Once again, I hope everyone had a Merry Crimmus. I did, for which I am grateful. :ww:

So the presents have been opened, and all that’s left now is the taking back, as my mom says. Or in my case, the taking down.

Yes, Virginia, I un-decorated my house last night — on Christmas day. Boxed up my Christmas angels. Took down my jingle bell wreath. Packed up the Christmas stockings. I even got most of the ornaments off the tree and boxed up before I went to bed.

Why? Well, my tree’s been up since Thanksgiving, and it’s really starting to shed now. Plus, I’d like to have all my furniture back in its proper place so I can actually do things like walk through my house again. And you know, have the house be sort of clean and organized.

More than all that, though, is the fact I need to get back to work on book stuff. I’ve been slacking off these past few weeks and feel the need to get back in the groove. Something that’s kind of hard when the house is such a mess. So down comes the Christmas tree tonight. 😈

What about you guys? Are you feeling the Christmas spirit until New Year’s? Or does your tree come down the day after like mine does? Share in the comments.

  • Best wishes …

Merry Christmas, everyone! Eat some good food. Open some presents. Spend time with the ones you love. Remember all that you have to be thankful for this year. Hope the day is everything you want it to be.

    Cheers! :ww:

  • Here, there, and everywhere …

So I’ve got two of my Christmas family gatherings over with this weekend. Three more to go.

On Saturday, I cleaned, did errands, wrapped presents, baked a cake, did laundry, drove an hour to see my dad and stepmother, opened presents with them, drove back, had dinner with Wheezley, and then hung out with some friends the rest of the night. Whew! I’m still tired.

Hopefully, this week will be a little less hectic. At least I don’t have to drive as far to see the rest of my family.

The most interesting thing I’ve gotten so far? A box of holiday Tic-Tacs (from the same person who gave me the olive tray). I don’t have any great fondness for Tic-Tacs, so they were a surprise. I think the person needed a filler present, since they were in a box with a very nice down vest. So it was all good. 😎
