    For a good cause …

Every year, I donate a few items to Brenda Novak’s annual diabetes auction. The auction is underway, so I thought I would list what’s up for grabs from me this year. Please note that these are three separate items:

    1) Signed copies of my entire backlist, including the Elemental Assassin books to date and the three Bigtime books, along with signed bookmarks

    2) An eARC of Spider’s Revenge, the fifth book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series that’s out on Sept. 27.

    3) An eARC of Touch of Frost, the first book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series that’s out on July 26.

Pretty cool, huh? There are tons of awesome items to bid on, everything from signed books to jewelry to trips to critiques from editors and agents. So what are you waiting for? Get on over there!

  • Touch of Frost bookmarks …

I’ve finally gotten bookmarks made for Touch of Frost, the first book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series that’s coming out on July 26. Huzzah! Here’s a look at the front of the bookmark. Pretty cool, huh? 😉

As always, the bookmarks are free to readers, librarians, bookstores, or whoever wants one. However, I do ask that folks send me a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with two first-class U.S. stamps on it in order to get the bookmarks. This helps me out with postage costs. If you’re interested in getting some bookmarks, e-mail me.

Here’s the back cover copy for the book:

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.

But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why — especially since I should have been the one who died …

Touch of Frost will be out on July 26. First Frost, a prequel e-story to the series, will also be out in July as a download, although I don’t have the exact release date on that one yet. I’ll keep you posted.

Kiss of Frost back cover copy …

Okay, I’ve gotten the back cover copy for Kiss of Frost, the second book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series:

Logan Quinn was trying to kill me. My Spartan classmate relentlessly pursued me, swinging his sword at me over and over again, the shining silver blade inching closer to my throat every time. A smile tugged up his lips, and his ice-blue eyes practically glowed with the thrill of battle …

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart — the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword — with Logan’s help — I just might die by the sword …

Sounds pretty cool, huh? Or maybe I’m just a little biased. 😉

By the way, I let Wheezley, my significant other read this one, and he called it my girly angsty book. LOL. So make of that what you will.

Anyway, Kiss of Frost is out on Nov. 29. I’ll be posting the cover art when it becomes available.

Touch of Frost cover revealed (again) …

Well, it looks like I posted too soon.

My publisher has decided to change the cover art for Touch of Frost, the first book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series. I’ve known about this for a while. In fact, my editor told me that they’d decided to change the cover a few days after I posted the first cover here. That’s how it goes sometimes. LOL.

At left is what the new cover will look like — aka the girl cover. Below, I’ve posted what the old cover looked like — aka the gargoyle cover.

It’s not uncommon for cover art to be changed. Like the books themselves, the cover art goes through several different rounds of development and lots of folks have to sign off on the cover art before it’s finally approved.

I like both covers, but I think the girl cover is a better fit for the book/series. To me, it’s a little hipper and edgier and says young adult urban fantasy more than the gargoyle cover did. I think that’s important  since Touch of Frost is all about my heroine, Gwen Frost, and is told from her first-person point of view.

Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why – especially since I should have been the one who died …

So now that I have the final cover for the books, I can go forward with things on my end, like getting flyers and bookmarks made. I’ll post here when I get the bookmarks and let you guys know how to get some.

By the way, I’ve seen the preliminary cover for Kiss of Frost, the second book in the series, and it is freaking awesome. I can’t wait to share that cover with you guys. 😉

Which cover do you guys like better? Share in the comments.
