Pre-ordering The Spider …
So The Spider, the 10th book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series, will be released on Tuesday, Dec. 24.I know that’s a really busy shopping day, and folks will be running around doing last-minute holiday stuff, so I wanted to talk about how to get the book on release day.
First of all, here are some of the places that you can pre-order the book:
Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Books-A-Million
The book should also be available through Kobo, although I don’t see it up for pre-order there yet.
E-books: If you pre-order the book and have an e-reader (or read on your computer/phone/tablet), then The Spider should download to your device at midnight on Dec. 24, and then you can read at your leisure.
Audio books: If you prefer the audio book, you can pre-order that from Audible, and it should also download to your device on Dec. 24.
Print books: However, if you want a print copy of the book, I encourage you to please visit your local bookstore before Dec. 24 and ask if they will be getting any copies of the book and if they will reserve one for you.
I have no way of knowing which stores carry my books and how many copies they might have on hand. So if you ask before the release date, that might save you some time going from store to store on Dec. 24.
You can visit Indie Bound to find a local independent bookstore near you, or you can check out the store finders at Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.
Print book deal: Also, I wanted to mention that Amazon is still offering print copies of The Spider for about $4.79. That’s a pretty good price on the print book. Of course, you probably won’t get it on Dec. 24, but if you prefer the print book and want to save a few bucks, you might consider ordering it through them.

When Darkness Falls calendar by Tony Mauro …
So I was perusing through the calendars at my local Books-A-Million a few weeks ago looking for holiday presents, when I spotted a name that I knew on one of the calendars — Tony Mauro.
Tony is a well-known fantasy artist who (among many other things) creates books covers, including those for my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series. Curious, I picked up Tony’s When Darkness Falls calendar and turned it over.
And what do I see but the cover art for Heart of Venom, Elemental Assassin #9, featured in the calendar. Woot! Woot! Gin is featured during the month of October.I thought this was super-cool, and I e-mailed Tony about it. According to Tony, he’s been creating the fantasy art calendars for about eight years now.
If you order the calendar through his website (as the above photo says), Tony will sign it for you. Again, how cool is that? I always buy a couple of calendars for Christmas, so if you’re looking for a holiday gift for someone, this would make a pretty neat one. The calendars are $13.95, plus shipping and handling.
The calendars are also available at retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million. But please note that those calendars are not signed by Tony.

Carniepunk e-book on sale for $1.99 through Oct. 21 …
I wanted to let everyone know that the e-book version of the Carniepunk urban fantasy anthology is currently on sale for $1.99.So if you’ve been wanting to check out the entire anthology, now is the time to do it. From what I’ve been told, the e-book sale will run through Oct. 21.

My story is called Parlor Tricks and is set in my Elemental Assassin world. In Parlor Tricks, Gin and Bria go to a country carnival in search of a missing girl and find some unexpected sights and danger along the way. My story is about 9,000 words long, and you can read an excerpt here.

And the title is …
Today, I’m pleased to share the title and release date for Elemental Assassin #11.
And the title is … drumroll please … Poison Promise.
Huzzah! I really like this title, which my editor, agent, and I all brainstormed together to come up with (although I think my agent is the one who actually suggested it in the end). I think Poison Promise fits in nicely with the plot, some of the themes in the book, and some of Gin’s feelings/attitudes as a character. Plus, the alliteration reminds me of Tangled Threads.
As of right now, Poison Promise is tentatively set to be published in July 2014, which means that the release date would be June 24, 2014.
I can’t say too much about the plot yet, just that the M.M. Monroe plot thread and story arc will continue in this book.
I will be sharing the cover art, excerpt, etc. as they become available. Anyway, hope everyone likes the title and is looking forward to the book.

So if you want a print copy of the book, you may want to go ahead and pre-order it from Amazon so you can get the pre-order price.
