General musings

  • Snow daze …

We’re supposed to get a significant amount of snow in my neck of the woods today and over the weekend. According to the Weather Channel, you’d think the world was coming to an end with all the watches and warnings they have posted.

I don’t mind a little snow, and it looks like we’re going to get our white Christmas a week early. I just hope the power doesn’t go off, especially since I have a ton of book stuff to do this weekend.

Anyway, if the snow is headed your way, hope you stay safe and warm! 😉

  • Gobble, gobble …

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Eat turkey, watch football, and rest up for all that shopping on Black Friday.

And most importantly, remember what you have to be thankful for. 😉

  • All the news that’s fit to print …

So I sent out my monthly e-newsletter today, the first one that’s gone since before the hack this summer. I’m using a new system which has been a little wonky. So if anyone has any issues with this newsletter, please let me know.

And if you haven’t signed up for the newsletter, just go to the home page and click on the tab on the right-hand side. I give away free books every month to subscribers. 😉

  • Ringing in the season …

So I bought my first Christmas present of the season this week — these Chantilly bath powders that my grandma likes.

The bath powders are one of the things that I buy every year. Most of my shopping is pretty easy, since the folks on my list have favorite things that they like and that I buy for them every year. My mom likes puzzle books, my uncle a particular kind of chocolate, and I always get Wheezley a nice bottle of Scotch for Christmas. And, of course, I purchase tons of books for everyone. Hey, I gotta support all those other authors out there. 😉

What about you? Ready to start your holiday shopping? Or is it too soon to even think about hitting the malls yet? Share in the comments.

  • Cold hands, warm heart …

Here’s a random fact about me: I have cold hands almost all the time.

Like super-cold hands. Hands that are so cold that Wheezley tells me that I have “ghoul touch.” Hands that are so cold that people actually recoil in terror rather than shake them. Seriously. I don’t know why. Just cold-blooded, I guess. 😉

So you can see why I was amused yesterday when my friend Super Librarian Amy sent me this link for USB heating gloves. I don’t know about actually being tethered to the computer, but I might try these for $22.

Maybe then, my hands will finally be warm. While I’m working on the computer at least …
