Cool books on pop culture …

Right now, I’m reading Neptune Noir: Unauthorized Investigations into Veronica Mars.

It’s a book of essays about the television show, Veronica Mars, published by BenBella Books. The company has an offshoot that does pop culture books, like the aforemention VM title. Why am I mentioning this? Because there’s everything from a James Bond book to one on Joss Whedon to Buffy and Serenity titles.

I thought some of you guys might be interested in some of the books. Hope you can check it out! :ww:

I have several of BenBella’s books, but I would especially recommend THE MAN FROM KRYPTON, if for no other reason than it reprints Larry Niven’s “Man Of Steel, Woman Of Kleenex.”

I wonder if you followed all of the news out of Comic Con last weekend. Joss Whedon was their with his new show Doll House. He also talked about an online video he did called Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Neil Patrick Harris stars in it — I would really like to see it.

Also Neil Gaiman is going to do a Batman comic next year.

Plus — J.J. Abrams new show, Fringe, was previewed.

PurpleRanger — I plan on getting some more of the BenBella titles at some point. I’ve especially got my eye on the Bond book. 😎

Brian — I followed some of the Comic Con news. Everyone’s raving about the Whedon video, but I haven’t seen it yet. NPHarris is one of my favorite actors right now. I so hope he gets the Emmy for How I Met Your Mother. He deserves it. I love me some Barney Stinson. 😈

Gaiman doing Batman? That should be interesting.

I’m kind of ambivalent about the new Whedon and Abrams shows. They seem to be leaning more sci-fi than fantasy, and I’m a much bigger fantasy fan. Also, I read somewhere that the pilot for one of the shows is being tweaked or reshot. That’s usually not a good sign …
