Tricks or treats …

So tomorrow is Halloween. It’s never been a holiday that’s excited me all that much. Probably because when I was a kid, I wore the same costume every single year — a black witch’s hat, a black cape, and a plastic orange pumpkin for collecting all that sugary goodness.

Seriously. I never remember going as anything else. (My mom didn’t have a lot of extra money for a costume.) But as long as I got candy, I was pretty happy.

Sadly, this year, I will be at home, cleaning mounds and mounds of papers and other debris off my desk and generally trying to get my house into some kind of cleanly shape. Luckily, though, I have a candy dish full of dark chocolate to console me while I work. Yummy! 😉

What about you guys? What are you dressing up as for Halloween? Going out with the kids or no? And most importantly, what’s your favorite candy?

Mine is those dark chocolate Godiva bars filled with raspberry you can get at most department stores. Mmm … 😈

We’re taking the kiddo trick or treating Thurs and Friday nights, then Saturday is adult time. Gary is diggin in and finally going as Otis from The Devils Rejects and I’m going as Sookie Stackhouse. Should be fun.

As for candy my favorite as a kid was those Neco little sugar pieces. Those things are nasty now, but I loved them then. As for now I’ll go with Kit Kats or those white chocolate Lindor Truffles. Yummy.

Sadly I won’t be running around like mad this year…I’ll just handing out goodies to the little ghouls and goblins.

However, the day after I’ll be attending a costume party so that will be fun.

Favorite candy.. hmm.. all of them!!

Chasity — Are you going as Sookie (Anna Paquin) from HBO or Sookie from the books? Just wondering. Cool costume idea. Oh, I love me some KitKats! :scooby:

I like truffles too, but I prefer the dark chocolate. White chocolate just doesn’t seem like “real” chocolate to me.

Rachel — Sounds like you’ve got a fun weekend planned. Oh, yes about the candy … except for things with coconut in them. I can’t stand coconut, not even if there’s chocolate involved!

I think my favorite candy bar is probably the Milky Way — either milk chocolate or dark chocolate versions. I will admit, though, that I have been enjoying the Rocking Nut Road Snickers limited edition recently.

I read about that bar on the site of one of my LJ friends:

I’m waiting for tomorrow — when the Halloween candy gets discounted 50%.

I’m not crazy about Milky Ways. I’d much rather have a Snickers or a Three Musketeers. But good plan about the candy. I do that with Christmas paper/cards/supplies sometimes.

If I only knew some Saucy Wenches I would dress up as Cap’n Freebeard, but without the Saucy Wenches I just don’t think it would be as much fun.

I’m not sure I have a favorite candy, but I do have a least favorite — Tootsie Rolls. I hate Tootsie Rolls. I was always sad when I would go to someone’s house and get a Tootsie Roll — I think a rock would have been better treat.

For Halloween I hope to be giving out treats. For the past few years I’ve been getting around 75. I think that is about the perfect amount — Enough to enjoy it, but not so many that you worry about running out of treats.

To answer your question I’m going as Sookie from the TV show. I’m essentially wearing her barmaid outfit that’s pretty much described in the book. I don’t thing anyone at the party is going to get it, but it amuses me. I even made my own bottle of TruBlood.

Brian — Cap’n Freebeard would be a fun character to dress up as, wouldn’t he? Although you’d also need a party barge and lots of alcohol to really pull it off …

I’m not too fond of Tootsie Rolls myself. Gummi bears were always one of my favorite things to get. Pure sugar, yummy! :bubbles:

Chasity — Sounds like a cool idea. Although making your own TruBlood? You’re way more ambitious than I am …

I do the same after Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter — particularly if there is some seasonal candy that I want to stockpile for the following 10 months or so.
