RWA is a really good conference, and we had a great time, despite the high prices. LOL.

To answer your question, it depends on the author's contract, if the books have gone out of print, and several other things. Like I said, I'll do a blog post on it at some point, probably after the Touch of Frost blog tour has wrapped up, so stay tuned!

I would love to go to RWA. It's a great place to meet authors and fellow fans/forum buddies, scope out new authors, scoop up some books, and have a good time in another city. Although, it would have to be west coast.

As for NY prices, their prices are most likely high because leasing space is astronomical. NYC property is so expensive! Anyway, that's what I've gathered from house hunting shows. ;o)

As for "digitizing," it would be nice if authors could release what they want when they want. Does this mean if an author doesn't get contracted to continue a series he/she can do so independently? I know you said you would explain digitizing later so no need to respond to this question now.

It sounds as though you had a good time! I hope your hubby had a good time too!

Heh. I'm still in sticker shock over the prices.

That's very true. I think I went to my first nationals in 2006, and back then, you heard very little about digital publishing. Amazing how quickly things can change.

It was great meeting you too, and I enjoyed having my picture taken with Mho. ;-)

I almost died when my drink came to $19 and I work in NYC! Also, it was so uplifting to see many with first sale ribbons and most of them were because of epublishers. I remember when I went to nationals in 2008, it was all about traditional publishing and no one really talked about epublishing. The buzz was digital publishing and how so many authors have been successful self-publishing.

One of the best conferences I ever went to! And it was great seeing you and not minding taking a picture with my naughty stuffed demon sheep, Mho. ;)
