I missed Farscape when it first came on and could never catch up with it. I used to enjoy watching Batman Beyond too. That was an interesting take on the character — Bruce Wayne as a grumpy old man. 😎

I never really got into Firefly. I always wondered why they still used guns (regular guns) instead of like laser guns or lightsabers or something.

I know it was supposed to be a space western, but still. You’d think if they had spaceships, they would have had laser guns too.

The Sopranos and Gilmore Girls had great runs, but I’m still really sad to see them go. Of all of the fictional towns on television I love Stars Hollow the most.

Firefly is a great example of a show that left too soon. It hardly got started before it was already off the air.

Killer Instinct from Fox
Farscape from Sci Fi
Batman Beyond (it was a really cool cartoon)
Birds of Prey

That is all I can think of right now. However my husband and I had a stream of bad luck a few years running as our favorite new shows kept getting cancelled. Dang it!

The Sopranos and Gilmore Girls had both run their course, I think. They each got what, 6, 7 seasons?

Veronica could have gone a couple more years, whether with her still in college, or solving cases for the FBI. I’m still bummed about it.

But on the bright side, another fav show of mine, How I Met Your Mother, was on the fence and got picked up.

I’m still upset that My So-Called Life didn’t have a full run, so you can add me to those that are in mourning over the loss of Veronica Mars.

The Sopranos, Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars all gone within a month. Is this the end of the golden age of TV drama?

I love Friday Night Lights too. It was one of my favorite new shows this year (along with Heroes). When did Kyle Chandler get so sexy? Sigh.

Edie — I know what you mean. It’s such a great show with terrific writing. Ah well, at least we got three years of it. And Heroes is coming back next year. Yeah!

Chasity — I never watched Reunion, but I heard a lot of folks complain about shows like that and Kidnapped that got cancelled mid-run. For shows like that, they should cut the time down to six months — or at least do something online that wraps everything up.

I had these same thoughts the other day. I ran across a new character on Grey’s Anatomy (Lexie Grey) and kept trying to figure out who she was. With a bit of research, I found she was on a show called Reunion. It ran for 12 episodes and was cancelled. It still bugs me that I’ll never know who the killer was.

I can sympathize. I’m still mourning “Early Edition” though it’s been off for many years now. And “Quantum Leap” which did get a real series finale, but wasn’t satisfying really.
I tend to fall in love with the quirkier shows, generally the ones that live on the cusp of cancellation all the time. This year both “The Dead Zone” and “Friday Night Lights” made it through to next season, so I’m thrilled.
