What really kills me is when I see author interviews where they say that they don’t do ANY promotion — and yet, their books are bestsellers. I really need to learn their secret. LOL.

No, the publishers basically distribute the book to bookstores and send it to the major review sites (like Publishers Weekly). Then, depending on how your books are selling, your publisher might do some advertising for you in the bookstores or in magazines or online — or they might not. It just depends.

I never realized how much work (and cash) you guys have to do in order to promote your work. I just figured that is what the publishers did. I Will do some free promo on your behalf. Once summer is over (2 kids very busy) I want to do a blog week to promote my fav american authors with You, Julie Kenner, Jeaniene Frost, Marta Acosta & maybe 1 or 2 others. Not sure of more than that yet, but I thought it would be fun and have some good Canadian/U.S relations. Break some of the myths etc, like all Canadians are polite — trust me 1 walk in downtown Toronto should prove that. Will get back to you when I have something more concrete.
