Widow’s Web cover art revealed …

Widow’s Web outer cover Widow’s Web inner cover

So I can finally share the cover art for Widow’s Web, the seventh book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series that will be out on Aug. 21. Huzzah!

Although, this time, there’s a twist.

The paperback copies will actually have two covers — an outer white cover (above left) and an inner blue cover (above right). Basically, the white cover is a flap that you open up to see the inner cover. This is called a step-back cover. Pretty cool, huh?

So when you go to your local bookstore or want to order the paperback version online, be on the lookout for the white cover.

    Widow’s Web e-book cover

However, if you plan on getting the e-book, be on the lookout for the blue cover, since that’s what will be used for the e-book versions. The e-book cover (above) is basically the same art as the inner cover, but with my name and the title of the book on it. And once again, the art by Tony Mauro on the blue cover is just fantastic.

Here’s a little more info about the book. Please note that there are a few mild spoilers here, if you haven’t read By a Thread yet:

My name is Gin, and I kill people. It’s something I’ve been doing for years as the assassin called Spider, but now, it’s turned into a necessity on my part just to survive all the lowlifes in Ashland who are gunning for me. The underworld is still in turmoil, and I seem to be on everyone’s hit list these days.

To add to Gin’s problems, her lover Owen’s ex is in town. Salina is back in Ashland to reclaim an old family legacy — and she thinks that Owen is hers for the taking. Also in the mix is Phillip Kincaid, a casino owner and all-around shady character who has a mysterious connection to both Owen and Salina.

Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but there’s more to her than meets the eye. Her water elemental magic makes her a dangerous enemy — and someone who can go toe-to-toe with Gin’s Ice and Stone power. But Gin is determined to get to the bottom of Salina’s deadly scheme, even though it just might cost her everything … including Owen.

Basically, this book delves into Owen’s past. Readers will find out how Owen survived when he was living on the streets with his younger sister, Eva, as well as more about his relationships with Salina and Kincaid.

Widow’s Web is up for pre-order at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and other booksellers. Hope everyone enjoys the book when it comes out.

    Dark Frost cover revealed …

So I’ve finally got some cover art to share for Dark Frost, the third book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series. This isn’t the final version of the cover, but this is pretty much what it will look like. I like the way the overall style/theme from the first two covers continues with this one.

Also, here’s the back cover copy for the book. Please note that it does contain some spoilers for Kiss of Frost. So if you haven’t read Kiss of Frost yet, you may want to skip over the back cover copy for Dark Frost:

I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall.  I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me — again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects — and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school.  But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way.  The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom.  So why do they have it in for me?  It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me — and I’m in for the fight of my life.

You can read the first chapter of the book here, although once again please note that it does contain some spoilers for Kiss of Frost.

Dark Frost will be released on May 29, 2012. The book is up for pre-order at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

By a Thread cover revealed …

Some of you have probably seen this already, but here is the cover for By a Thread, the sixth book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series.

I really like the colors on this one. I think the pops of blue will print nicely with the green. Plus, the whole cover image and the colors tie in with the story. I also like the little touches, like the spider on Gin’s tank top. I’ve been very pleased with all the covers in the series, which have all been done by artist Tony Mauro. My thanks goes out to Tony for another excellent cover.

Fun fact: According to my editor, this is an actual woman/cover model, and they’ve used her on all the Elemental Assassin covers so far.

Also, here are some other things that will be happening with the Elemental Assassin series in 2012:

    1) By a Thread will be released in March 2012. The on-sale date will be Feb. 28, 2012.

    2) I’ll be getting bookmarks made for By A Thread later this fall, probably after my blog tour for Spider’s Revenge winds down in October, and I have time to work on the bookmarks. I’ll post here on the blog when I have the bookmarks.

    3) Also, By a Thread is up for pre-order at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Please note that the back cover copy is up at B&N and that it does contain some spoilers for what happens in Spider’s Revenge. So if you don’t like spoilers, don’t look at the cover copy.

    4) The seventh book is tentatively scheduled for an August 2012 release, which means that the on-sale date will be July 31, 2012.

Those are all the updates I have right now for the Elemental Assassin books. I’ll post more info as it becomes available.

Kiss of Frost cover revealed …

So I thought I would go ahead and share this before the Touch of Frost blog tours kicks into high gear, but I can finally share the cover art for Kiss of Frost.

I think this cover is absolutely gorgeous. I love her post, the snow, the sword in the title, and the little gargoyle on the left. I think it goes so well with Touch of Frost and the overall cover art style of the series. Plus, this cover really fits the book and the plot. Here’s the back cover blurb:

Logan Quinn was trying to kill me. My Spartan classmate relentlessly pursued me, swinging his sword at me over and over again, the shining silver blade inching closer to my throat every time. A smile tugged up his lips, and his ice-blue eyes practically glowed with the thrill of battle …

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart — the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword — with Logan’s help — I just might die by the sword …

Kiss of Frost will be out on Nov. 29, and you can read the first two chapters here. The book is also up for pre-order at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Are you excited yet? I am! 😉

  • Spider’s Revenge cover unveiled …

Some of you have seen this already, but here’s the cover for Spider’s Revenge, the fifth book in the Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series. Pretty cool, huh?

Kudos once again go to Tony Mauro, the cover artist. Just when I think that Tony can’t possibly top himself, I see the cover for the next book and am wowed all over again.

Now, I know what some of you are going to ask: Why can’t we see the spider rune on Gin’s hand? From what I understand, there just wasn’t a good pose that showed the rune this time. But it’s in the title, which I think is really cool. Also, here’s the back cover copy:

Old habits die hard. And I plan on murdering someone before the night is through.

Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very good at it. Now, I’m ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was thirteen. Oh, I don’t think the mission will be easy, but turns out it’s a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I’m coming for her. So now I’m up against the army of lethal bounty hunters she hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister’s head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority. Taking Mab out is a close second. Good thing I’ve got my powerful Stone and Ice magic — and my irresistible lover Owen Grayson — to watch my back. This battle has been years in the making, and there’s a chance I won’t survive. But if I’m going down, then Mab’s coming with me … no matter what I have to do to make that happen.

Spider’s Revenge will be out on Sept. 27. I’ve said all along that Gin and Mab’s story arc would play out over five books, so I don’t think I’m giving too much away by saying that they have their big showdown in this book. I hope everyone has as much fun reading the book as I did writing it.

Are you excited yet? I am! 😉
