    The Spider released …

Book #10So The Spider, the 10th book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series, has been released today, Dec. 24. Woot! Woot!

The book is available in print, audio, and e-book formats from many retailers, including the following:

    Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Books-A-Million / iTunes / Kobo Audible

And here is the book description:

How did I end up in a career where I always have blood on my hands? Well, let me tell you a story about an assassin who thought she could do no wrong. . . .

Ten years ago. A blistering hot August night. I remember like it was yesterday. The night I, Gin Blanco, truly became the Spider. Killing people is what I do best, especially now that I’ve honed my Ice and Stone magic. But back then, I had yet to learn one very important rule: arrogance will get you, every single time.

This particular job seemed simple: murder a crooked building contractor with ties to ruthless Fire elemental Mab Monroe. My mentor, Fletcher Lane, had some misgivings, but I was certain that I had the situation under control . . . right up until I exposed my weaknesses to a merciless opponent who exploited every single one of them. There’s a reason assassins aren’t supposed to feel anything. Luckily, a knife to the heart can fix that problem, especially when I’m the one wielding it. . . .

This book is a prequel origin story that takes place about 10 years before the events of Spider’s Bite, the first book in the series. So readers will get to see the assignment that truly turned Gin into an assassin in The Spider. The book also delves a little deeper into Gin’s relationship with her mentor, Fletcher Lane.

But what I think is the most fun about the book is Gin “meeting” some of the secondary characters for the first time. There are also lots of little Easter eggs and references to people and places in the books that I hope fans of the series will enjoy.

This really was a fun book for me to write, and I hope that everyone enjoys reading more about Gin’s past and her relationship with Fletcher.

Happy reading and happy holidays, everyone!

    Pre-ordering The Spider …

Book #10So The Spider, the 10th book in my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series, will be released on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

I know that’s a really busy shopping day, and folks will be running around doing last-minute holiday stuff, so I wanted to talk about how to get the book on release day.

First of all, here are some of the places that you can pre-order the book:

    Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Books-A-Million

    iTunesAudible

The book should also be available through Kobo, although I don’t see it up for pre-order there yet.

E-books: If you pre-order the book and have an e-reader (or read on your computer/phone/tablet), then The Spider should download to your device at midnight on Dec. 24, and then you can read at your leisure.

Audio books: If you prefer the audio book, you can pre-order that from Audible, and it should also download to your device on Dec. 24.

Print books: However, if you want a print copy of the book, I encourage you to please visit your local bookstore before Dec. 24 and ask if they will be getting any copies of the book and if they will reserve one for you.

I have no way of knowing which stores carry my books and how many copies they might have on hand. So if you ask before the release date, that might save you some time going from store to store on Dec. 24.

You can visit Indie Bound to find a local independent bookstore near you, or you can check out the store finders at Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.

Print book deal: Also, I wanted to mention that Amazon is still offering print copies of The Spider for about $4.79. That’s a pretty good price on the print book. Of course, you probably won’t get it on Dec. 24, but if you prefer the print book and want to save a few bucks, you might consider ordering it through them.

Anyway, hope that helps. Happy reading, everyone!

    Killer Frost update …

Killer FrostWith the release of Midnight Frost back in August, I’ve been getting some questions about Killer Frost, the sixth book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series.

First of all, here is the cover for the book at left. Killer Frost is set to be released in March 2014, which means that the on-sale date will be Feb. 25, 2014.

Killer Frost will be the last book in my Mythos Academy series. I know this will disappoint some folks. I love writing the series and Gwen, Logan, and all the other characters, but ending the series now will give me a chance to bring Gwen’s story to a (hopefully) great conclusion for readers and fans of the series.

If there is enough reader interest, I may write more works in the series someday or perhaps do a spinoff series. We’ll see what happens. But it’s time to say goodbye to Gwen and the gang, at least for now.

This doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop writing young adult books. I have a new YA project that I am working on, and I hope to be able to share some news about that soon. Like I said before, we’ll see what happens.

In the meantime, here is the link to the Killer Frost book page with all of the information that I have for the book so far. And here is the book description. As always, please be mindful of spoilers:

I’ve battled the Reapers of Chaos beforeand survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it’s going to be a fight to the death … most likely mine.

Yeah, I’ve got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic–and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side, in Logan freaking Quinn, but I’m no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike’s Champion, but at heart, I’m still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good … or I am.

Killer Frost will be available in print, audio book, and e-book formats. It is up for pre-order at the following sites:

    Amazon

    Barnes & Noble

    Books-A-Million

    Brilliance Audio

It should be up for pre-order soon at other sites, including Audible, Kobo, and iTunes.

I had a lot of fun writing this series, and I hope that everyone enjoys Gwen’s next adventure.

    The Spider is coming …

    Book #10
    Book #10

Now that Heart of Venom has been released, I’m already getting questions about my next Elemental Assassin book.

The Spider, book #10, will be released on Dec. 24. Here is the book page that features all the information that I have about the book so far, including the first chapter excerpt. And here is the book description. As always, please be mindful of spoilers:

For the first time, the full origin story of Gin Blanco’s transformation into the fearsome assassin known as the Spider—book ten in the red-hot Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series.

How did I end up in a career where I always have blood on my hands?

Well, let me tell you a story about an assassin who thought she could do no wrong …

My mentor, Fletcher Lane, had some misgivings, but I was certain that I had the situation under control … right up until I exposed my weaknesses to a merciless opponent who exploited every single one of them. There’s a reason assassins aren’t supposed to feel anything. Luckily, a knife to the heart can fix that problem, especially when I’m the one wielding it …

This book is a little different from the others in the series in that it is an origin story of how Gin truly became the Spider. So this book is set 10 years before the events of the first book in the series, Spider’s Bite. The book will feature a look at Gin’s relationship with Fletcher, and readers will get to see how she first met some of the other characters in the series.

The Spider will be available in print, e-book, and audio book formats. It is up for pre-order at the following sites:

    Amazon

    Barnes & Noble

    Books-A-Million

    iTunes

The book should be up for pre-order at other sites, including Audible and Kobo, soon.

I had a lot of fun writing this book, and I hope that everyone enjoys this look back at Gin’s past.

Deadly Sting audio excerpt from Audible …

So I have something fun to share today. Jessica and the folks over at Audible have made the second chapter of the Deadly Sting audio book available for free to listeners. Huzzah!

To listen to the chapter and the narration by Lauren Fortgang, just click on the icon above. Or you can also listen to the chapter by following this link.

I’ve gotten so many nice comments about Lauren’s narration and the audio books in general, so I think it’s really cool that Audible is offering up the sample chapter for a listen.

Also, don’t forget that all of the Elemental Assassin books are available as audio books from Audible (along with my Mythos Academy books). You can see my author page and all of the audio books available here.

Heart of Venom, Elemental Assassin #9, will also be available as an audio book through Audible on Aug. 27, the same day that the print and e-book versions will be released.

I’ve been getting more and more comments from folks who listen to audio books, so it seems like it’s a format that’s becoming more and more popular.

    Happy listening, everyone!
