Thanks! I appreciate that. :-)

Isn't it fun when a whole new genre opens up to you, and you find something you absolutely love? That's always such a great feeling -- and means more books to read!

It was fun hearing the story behind the story here. I love when ideas that seem like they wouldn't fit come together in a way that totally works. As for story types that I dragged my feet about giving a chance to... that would be Urban Fantasy. I'm not fond of modern settings in books (even the cozy mysteries I read tend to have a slightly old fashion feel) and I find cities intimidating. Can't imagine living in one. Also, I believe literal demons are a thing, and that you should stay as far away from them as possible, so if Urban Fantasy went there I didn't want to follow along. Then I read Rob Thurman's Nightlife, which completely blew me away, and started on The Dresden Files and, well, I doubt I would ever write an Urban Fantasy, (not sure I'd want to try writing a modern world setting) but I really enjoy reading it. Turns out it takes two of my favorite things ever -monster fights and crime solving- and smashes them together in an absolutely heart-pounding way that I love.
