Karma Girl, Bigtime superheroes #1, on sale for 99 cents …

Karma Girl, book #1 in my Bigtime paranormal romance series, is on sale for 99 cents. Woot!

Karma Girl was my very first published book back in 2007. It’s a fun, zany, over-the-top superhero spoof, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

    KARMA GIRL DESCRIPTION:

Investigative reporter Carmen Cole gets the surprise of her life on her wedding day when she discovers that her fiancé and best friend are sleeping together—and that the two of them are her town’s resident superhero and ubervillain. Shocked and hurt, Carmen reveals their secret identities and then decides to devote her life to unmasking every superhero and ubervillain who crosses her path.

A series of successful unmaskings lands Carmen a job at The Exposé, one of the biggest newspapers in Bigtime, New York, a city that’s full of superheroes and ubervillains. Carmen is in her element—until she gets kidnapped by the Terrible Triad, Bigtime’s most dangerous ubervillain team.

The Triad orders Carmen to uncover the secret identity of Striker, the leader of the Fearless Five, Bigtime’s most popular superhero team—or else they’ll drop her in a vat of radioactive goo. With that threat hanging over her, Carmen sets out to unmask Striker, but what she doesn’t count on is falling for the sexy superhero. But with the Terrible Triad lurking around, this is one story that just might be the death of her….

    Last Strand, Elemental Assassin #19, March 16, 2021 …

I have some updates about Elemental Assassin #19. And the title is … drumroll please … Last Strand.

Huzzah! I like the title a lot. Mainly, because I came up with it. LOL. Sometimes, I have a hard time coming up with a title for a new Elemental Assassin book/story just because I feel like I’ve used all the “spider” related words a dozen times. But Last Strand just sort of popped in my head one day, and I thought it was a great title. I hope you all agree.

As of right now, I am planning to self-publish Last Strand on March 16, 2021. It just depends on how my other writing deadlines shake out. And please do not tell me to write faster. I find that very annoying, especially given my writing-related health issues.

The awesome Tony Mauro is doing the cover art again, with Alexa Martino as the model for Gin.

I will be self-publishing an ebook and a print book. I’m hopeful that there will be an audiobook, but we’ll see what happens.

Last Strand will be the last book in my Elemental Assassin series – for a while, at least. I’m swamped with deadlines for my new Gemma Ripley trilogy and some other projects, and I need more of a work/life balance. Plus, I’d like to write some Elemental Assassin novellas from the points of view of some of the secondary characters, like Lorelei Parker. We’ll see what happens.

I’ll share more updates as they become available. Thanks! 😎

Some of Jennifer’s upcoming projects …

Here are a few of my upcoming book projects:

The Beauty of Being a Beast short story — October 2020

My story will first appear in Von Flusshexen und Meerjungfrauen (aka “River Witches and Mermaids”). This is a fairy-tale-themed short story anthology that will be released in German in October 2020. I will self-publish the story in English later on, probably in spring 2021.

Here is a look at the anthology cover art. Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the colors.

My 7,000-word story (about 25 pages) is a feminist take on Beauty and the Beast. That is one of my favorite fairy tales, and I enjoyed putting my own twist on the story.

    Elemental Assassin #19 — Spring 2021

I’m hoping to release the next Elemental Assassin book in spring 2021. The book is (mostly) written, and I’ve started the self-publishing process, but things are taking a lot longer than usual, due to the pandemic.

Capture the Crown — Gemma Ripley/Crown of Shards World #1 — Summer 2021

This is the first book in a new trilogy set in my Crown of Shards world. The new trilogy will take place 15 years after the events of Crush the King, Crown of Shards #3, and will focus on Gemma Ripley, the crown princess of Andvari, and her gargoyle Grimley (from Protect the Prince).

As of right now, the first book is called Capture the Crown, although that could change. The series name has not been finalized yet either.

Note: I have a few other publishing projects in the works. I’ll share info on them as soon as I can. Also, please note that these dates are TENTATIVE and could change at any time, due to my writing schedule and various publishing whims (including the pandemic).

    Thanks for reading! 😎

Fantasy and sci-fi books to add to the TBR pile …

Hey! It’s time to add some more fantasy and sci-fi books to your TBR pile. You know you want to … 😉

Note: The descriptions are from Amazon.

    Chaos Reigning by Jessie Mihalik

    Available now

Interplanetary intrigue and romance combine in this electrifying finale to the Consortium Rebellion series.

As the youngest member of her High House, Catarina von Hasenberg is used to being underestimated, but her youth and flighty, bubbly personality mask a clever mind and stubborn determination. Her enemies, blind to her true strength, do not suspect that Cat is a spy—which makes her the perfect candidate to go undercover at a rival House’s summer retreat to gather intelligence on their recent treachery.

Cat’s overprotective older sister reluctantly agrees, but on one condition: Cat cannot go alone. Alexander Sterling, a quiet, gorgeous bodyguard, will accompany her, posing as her lover. After Cat tries, and fails, to ditch Alex, she grudgingly agrees, confident in her ability to manage him. After all, she’s never found a person she can’t manipulate.

But Alex proves more difficult—and more desirable—than Cat anticipated. When she’s attacked and nearly killed, she and Alex are forced to work together to figure out how deep the treason goes. With rumors of widespread assaults on Serenity raging, communications down, and the rest of her family trapped off-planet, Catarina must persuade Alex to return to Earth to expose the truth and finish this deadly battle once and for all.

But Cat can’t explain why she’s the perfect person to infiltrate hostile territory without revealing secrets she’d rather keep buried. . . .

My thoughts: I really enjoyed Polaris Rising and Aurora Blazing, the first two books in this series, and I’m looking forward to reading this one.

It is always the oldest child, the one who has been preparing for years to compete in the Trial. But this year is different. This year these five outcasts will answer the call. . . .

THE LIAR: Emilia must hide her dark magic or be put to death.

THE SOLDIER: Lucian is a warrior who has sworn to never lift a sword again.
