General musings

  • Celebrating the Fourth …

Hope everybody has a great Fourth of July! Eat some hamburgers, watch some fireworks, and take a minute to remember what the whole shebang is really all about.

I’ll be on my computer most of the weekend, working on some minor and final (I hope) revisions on my Assassin book. But Wheezley and I will probably sneak off to the movies or bookstore at some point … because no holiday weekend would be complete without me getting my book fix on.

    Enjoy the weekend! 😎

  • It’s gone … for now …

For some reason, my blog has been acting squirrely the past few days. And now, as you can see, my frame and links to my Web site have been zapped for whatever reason. I’ve e-mailed my Web guy so hopefully this will be resolved soon.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to post here. So stay tuned. Same Bat channel at least! :batman:

  • A coupon, a coupon, my kingdom for a coupon …

Why is it that whenever I buy clothes I see a sale coupon in the newspaper the very next day? It happened today. Last night, the mom and I went to the mall, and I bought a few things for summer. This morning, I open up the newspaper and what do I see? A coupon for an extra 15 percent off.

    Sigh. I think it’s a conspiracy …

  • The good, the bad, and the not-so-sweaty …

The air conditioner has been fixed! Huzzah!

Turns out a capacitor or some sort of box thingy on the outside unit had gotten fried by the heat this weekend. Took the AC guy about 10 minutes to fix it.

    Cost to fix: $131.

Having cool air circulating through my hot box of a house once again: priceless. 😎

  • The good, the bad, and the sweaty …

One thing I love about summer: Eating big, thick, greasy barbecue sandwiches with my mom and grandma. I even indulged and drank a Mountain Dew, which I rarely do since it’s like the worst soda for your body. But man, was it ever good.

One thing I hate about summer: The fact my air conditioner decided to crap out on the hottest day of the year — when I had people over. When I left the house, it was working fine. When I came back, it was six degrees hotter than before. And it didn’t get any better no matter what I, Wheezley, and another friend did to it. Restarted it, tripped the breaker, checked the fuses, etc. Nothing worked.

Yesterday afternoon, the temp inside my house topped out at 91. I sat very, very still underneath a ceiling fan and read. I needed to work on some revisions I’m doing, but my computer got so hot I had to turn it off or risk frying it. Sigh. On the bright side, I finally finished one book and started another.

Luckily, the AC guy is coming today to try to fix it. I left him a message and he called me back — on a Sunday. Wonderful man. He’s getting a nice tip.

What about you? How did you beat the heat — or not — this weekend?
