    When art imitates life …

So I did some work on Assassin 3 this weekend, and I wrote a scene where Finnegan Lane drops barbecue sauce on his suit jacket. Finn is the foster brother/best friend/handler to Gin Blanco, the assassin. There’s nothing Finn likes more than a well-tailored suit, so staining his jacket upset him.

After I write this scene, I go out and get barbecue for lunch. And what happens? I drop baked beans all over my placemat on my kitchen table. Sigh …

  • Apropo of nothing …

There are less than 50 days until the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, hits theaters. If you haven’t seen it, google the trailer and watch it. The movie looks just as gritty and action-packed as Casino Royale. Can you tell I’m excited? 😎

Also, on a completely unrelated note, I’m waiting for one more piece of info, and then I can announce some major good news here on the blog. I’m hoping to get the info by tomorrow so I can post it on Wednesday. Yes, I know I’m a tease … 😉

  • Killer furniture …

So I spent a big part of my Saturday cleaning my house. Dusting, washing the sheets, flipping the mattress, etc. And I’ve come to a conclusion — my bedframe hates me.

Seriously. The frame has these sharp little corners/edges, and the way my bedroom is set up, I have to walk really close to the edges. Every time I walk past, I almost always bump into them — and get these ugly scrapes on my legs.

Sadly, Saturday was no exception. So my house is now clean, but I’m bruised as a result. Sigh.

On the bright side, I did get some work on Assassin 3 done this week. Right now, I’m at 20,000 words and counting …

  • Rain, rain, rain …

After a really dry summer, we’re finally getting some rain in my neck of the woods. In fact, it’s supposed to rain all week. Huzzah!

I love me some rainy days. I’d much rather the weather be cool and rainy than hot and sunny any day. Rain is much more conducive to things like napping, reading, and browsing through bookstores. At least in my mind. 😎

Of course, I shouldn’t be surprised by the rain. My family reunion is coming up this weekend. We could be in the worst drought in years, and it will still somehow find a way to rain on our reunion weekend. Seriously. It never fails. We had a bad drought last year, and guess when it rained? Family reunion weekend. Makes me wonder if my family’s done something to please or offend the rain gods …

What about you guys? Do you dig the rain? Love snowy days? Share in the comments.

    Runway time and more …

So in between the Olympics, I’ve been watching Project Runway. So far, this season has been fairly tame until this week’s challenge — make an outfit for a drag queen.

Oh my. It was interesting to say the least. Especially when one of the drag queens yelled out for Tim Gunn to call her. That was hysterical. But most of all, the challenge was just fun. Campy. Over the top. And just what the show needed to get me hooked again. I hope the producers have some more fun, zany challenges in store. 😎

If I had to guess at this point, I’d say the top four final designers are going to be Kenley, Suede, Terri, and Korto. Anyone agree or disagree?

On a side note, there’s only about a month left until the new fall TV season starts. I’m probably most excited about Gossip Girl, Chuck, and How I Met Your Mother. Chuck and Blair! The other Chuck! Casey! Barney! Robin! Oh, how I’ve missed you guys.

I’m pretty blase about everything else. Heroes could be good with the new focus on villains, but they seriously need to cut down their characters. I just don’t see how they’re going to give anyone screen time considering how many folks are on the show now.

Fringe and Dollhouse look interesting. So does My Own Worst Enemy. And I really wish NBC was airing Friday Night Lights this fall instead of waiting until next year. But at least it didn’t get canceled all together.

But the start of the new season means I need to hurry up and finish Assassin 2, write a rough draft of Assassin 3, and think about some other new writing projects I’ve been mulling over. Because come Sept. 21 or so, my time will once again be sucked up by my favorite shows.

I swear I’m cutting back this year. Really, I am. I need to spend more time writing and reading and less time watching television. I think I was watching something like 11 shows last year. Yeah, I know. I need help.

What about you guys? Which shows are you looking forward to?
