• Hello, summer binge-watching …

Can you guys believe that it’s June already? It seems like it was still January just a few weeks ago. Sigh.

The broadcast networks have wrapped up their shows for the season (I’ll miss you, superheroes!). But with those shows off the air, it gives me time to check out some new programs. Here are some of the shows that I hope to binge-watch this summer.

Note: The descriptions are from Amazon. Also, I believe that Bosch is only available through Amazon, but you can get the other shows on DVD or through a variety of TV/streaming services.

    Bosch — Season 3 — Amazon

Angered by the truths behind his mother’s murder, LAPD detective Harry Bosch struggles to find integrity in an imperfect justice system. The killing of a homeless veteran, the suicide of a serial killing suspect, and the high-profile murder trial of a Hollywood director pit Bosch against ruthless opponents who all threaten to destroy him. BOSCH Season 3 promises to be the most compelling yet.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed the first two seasons of this show. I love a good cop show, and this one not only looks at various crimes, but it also focuses on the internal politics between various officers, departments, prosecutors, etc. The show is based on the books by Michael Connelly, and I’m hoping to read some of those this summer as well.

    iZombie — Season 1 — DVD

From the executive producers of Veronica Mars, iZOMBIE stars Rose McIver (Masters of Sex, Once Upon a Time) as Olivia “Liv” Moore, a medical resident on the fast track to a perfect life … until she’s turned into a zombie. Now stuck between half-alive and undead, Liv transfers to the city morgue to reluctantly access the only thing that allows her to maintain her humanity — human brains. But there are side effects to Liv’s new diet. With each brain she consumes, she experiences flashes of the corpse’s memories — including, at times, clues as to how they were killed. Her boss, a brilliant but eccentric conspiracy theorist, encourages her to embrace this gift and to work with an eager, unproven homicide detective to help solve these murders … and quiet the voices in her head. iZOMBIE is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint. Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley and David Anders also star.

My thoughts: I’m not a zombie fan, but this looks like a really fun show. Plus, I like David Anders.

The Good Witch — Season 1 — DVD

The Good Witch series follows the adventures of a mysteriously enchanting woman, who peaks the curiosity of her neighbors. Based on the “Good Witch” series of cable movies, Season One follows Cassie Nightingale and her young-teenage daughter Grace, who shares that same special intuition as her mom. When New York transplants move in next to the Grey House, they are immediately spellbound by the mother-daughter duo next door.

My thoughts: I love When Calls the Heart on the Hallmark Channel, and I thought I would check out this series too.

What about you guys? What shows are you planning to binge-watch this summer?

    A deadly secret can’t stay buried forever . . .

Private investigator Heath Jones’s job is to bring bastards to justice. This time it’s personal. He knew the Copper Killer’s latest victim so when her sister asks for his help, he’s all in. • Spring books in my TBR pile …

Can you guys believe it’s the middle of May already? Not me. It seems like this year is just flying by. Here are some books that I’m looking forward to reading this spring. Note that the descriptions are from Amazon.

What books are you guys looking forward to reading this spring?

    Geekerella by Ashley Poston

    Available now

Cinderella goes to the con in this fandom-fueled twist on the classic fairy tale.

Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

My thoughts: I love twists on the Cinderella story, and this one sounds really fun, especially given the con setting.

The Thing About Love by Julie James

    Available now

The New York Times bestselling author of Suddenly One Summer blows the covers of two FBI agents who can’t hide who they are from each other…

FBI agents Jessica Harlow and John Shepherd have a past. The former lawyer and cocky Army Ranger clashed during their training at Quantico and gladly went their separate ways after graduating from the Academy. Six years later, the last thing either of them expects is to be assigned to work as partners in a high-profile undercover sting.

For both of them, being paired with an old rival couldn’t come at a worse time. Recently divorced from a Hollywood producer and looking for a fresh start, Jessica is eager to prove herself at her new field office. And John is just one case away from his dream assignment to the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team. In order to nail a corrupt Florida politician, they’ll have to find a way to work together—a task that becomes even trickier when they’re forced to hole up at a romantic beachfront resort as part of the investigation. Suddenly, the heat behind their nonstop sparring threatens to make the job a lot more complicated…

My thoughts: I’ve enjoyed the other books in James’s FBI/US Attorney series, and I’m looking forward to reading this one too.

New York, Actually by Sarah Morgan

    Out on May 30

One man. One woman. Two dogs.

Meet Molly—New York’s most famous advice columnist, she considers herself an expert at relationships…as long as they’re other people’s. Still bruised from her last breakup, Molly is in no rush to find happily-ever-after—the only love of her life is her dalmatian, Valentine.

Meet Daniel—A cynical divorce lawyer, he’s hardwired to think relationships are a bad idea. If you don’t get involved, no one can get hurt. Until he finds himself borrowing a dog to meet the gorgeous woman he sees running in Central Park every morning…

Molly and Daniel both think they know everything about relationships. But as they try—and fail—to resist their undeniable chemistry, they’ll soon discover they just might have a lot left to learn…

My thoughts: I’ve enjoyed the other books in Morgan’s From Manhattan With Love series, and I’m looking forward to this one, along with Holiday in the Hamptons (Aug. 29) and Moonlight Over Manhattan (Nov. 28). Plus, I think the covers for this series are really fun.

The sixteenth book in the New York Times bestselling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series that RT Book Reviews calls, “An extraordinary series…[containing] one of the most intriguing heroines in the genre.”

If you don’t know Gin “the Spider” Blanco, you don’t know dangerous female heroines.

Irony 101—The Spider herself snared in someone else’s web …

Another week, another few clues trickling in about the Circle, the mysterious group that supposedly runs the city’s underworld. Gathering intel on my hidden enemies is a painstaking process, but a more immediate mystery has popped up on my radar: a missing girl.

My search for the girl begins on the mean streets of Ashland, but with all the killers and crooks in this city, I’m not holding out much hope that she’s still alive.

A series of clues leads me down an increasingly dark, dangerous path, and I realize that the missing girl is really just the first thread in this web of evil. As an assassin, I’m used to facing down the worst of the worst, but nothing prepares me for this new, terrifying enemy—one who strikes from the shadows and is determined to make me the next victim.

You can read the first chapter of Snared by going here. Scroll down, and click on the Read Excerpt tab.

I had a lot of fun writing this book, and I hope that everyone enjoys Gin’s latest adventure in Snared.

Note: Some folks have been asking about future books in the series. As of right now, I’m planning to write three more books after Snared. I’m hoping to publish book #17 in the series in the fall of 2017. So stay tuned for more information.
