I'm interested to see Nora's take on the paranormal, too. I've read some of her J.D. Robb books, but never one of her romances. I've also heard good things about "A Girl's Guide to Witchcraft." So, I'll probably get those two from the library at some point. I have a copy of "American Gods" by Gaimon to read at some point as well.

When I read the story about a person only being able to read 3,000 books in a lifetime, I started a list. That was about 10 years ago (more or less). Now, I actually have a database on my computer with all the books I've read, author, number of times read, year published, and ranking. I'm just a tad obsessive, in case you haven't guessed yet. :-)

I also have similar database for movies, too. Although I keep forgetting to update it.

Here's the breakdown in my book database so far:

176 books have received a 10 -- the highest score. Those are the books that are near-perfect reads and that I would buy in hardback to add to my collection.

177 books have received a 7. Those are books I feel are excellent reads and would read again or recommend to a friend.

178 books have received a 5 -- good reads but nothing too earth-shattering. I would probably read something by that author again.

164 books have received a 3 -- below average reads. Not sure if I would read another book by that author.

92 books have received a 1 -- the lowest score. Books and authors that I wouldn't read again no matter how much you paid me to.

Sometimes, I move books up and down, especially if they're part of a series and the author blows me away in book 2 or 3 -- or underwhelms.

Anyway, that's my system, and I'm sticking to it. :-)

JA Konrath's Bloody Mary was well done. I keep meaning to blog about it--probably tomorrow. I also loved Nora's new book, and am looking forward to the second and third one. I just gobbled up A Girl's Guide to Witchcraft, by Mindy Klasky--a great one!

Right now I'm addicted to short stories. I love Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things.

So how do you remember all the books you've ever read? Or did you start counting at a certain point?
