Touch of Frost Excerpts …

I’ve actually had some free time lately, so I’ve (slowly) been going through and updating the website. One of the things I’ve done is post the first two chapters of Touch of Frost on the Excerpts page. Click here to read the chapters.

Touch of Frost is the first book in my Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series about Gwen Frost, a 17-year-old girl with pyschometry magic, or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. After a serious freak-out with her magic, Gwen finds herself shipped off to Mythos Academy, a school for the descendants of ancient warriors like Spartans, Valkyries, and more. Hopefully, the first two chapters will give everyone a sense of what the story/magic/ world building are like in the series.

I’ve also created a Mythos Academy page that has frequently asked questions, characters, a tour of campus, and other information on it. I’m still working on the website/pages, but I wanted to let everyone know about the new excerpts and info.

Happy reading! 😉

Great job! I am looking forward to the book.

I have a couple of questions that I couldn’t find the answers to in your FAQ.

    1. Gwen describes everyone at Mythos Academy as having weird powers. Does she think she is weird and isn’t proud of what she can do?

    2. Some authors use numbers as hidden meanings or symbolism. In Chapter 2, you had Prof. Metis have the kids turn to page one thirty-nine. Any meaning or just randomly chosen?

    Have a great day!

      1) Gwen doesn’t think what she can do is weird per se but she knows it’s not normal. But she never knew there were other kids with magic/powers too which is why she thinks the academy is so strange.

      2) Nope, that one was totally random. LOL.

Thank you for putting up the chapters and the series page. I’ve read the chapters and FAQs and I’m really excited to pick up this series now. August can’t come fast enough! Ah what a torture, Jennifer!

  3. Melissa says:

Oh, stop! I can’t just read 2 chapters and then wait! I’m not built for that kind of suspense! I’ll be good and wait for the whole book! I dont’ need to be teased… I already want to read it. 😉

    • Jennifer Estep says:

I understand that. But I figure the chapters will at least give folks an idea of what the story/tone/magic are like. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the book whenever you read it. 😉

Hello, Jennifer. I was just looking at the latest two short stories you posted for the Elemental Assassin series and I noticed that there aren’t any links to click on for me to read them. Is there something going on with your site?

    • Jennifer Estep says:

Nope, nothing’s wrong with the site — I just haven’t posted the stories yet because I’m still working on them. I needed to update the website before I finished the new stories so I went ahead and posted the descriptions. I hope to have the stories up in a few more weeks. I’ll announce it here on the blog when I do.

  5. Alex says:

Oh, ok. That thought crossed my mind, to. Can’t wait till they’re up. And your new YA series looks very interesting. I’m looking forward to reading it.

My sister in law bought a uncorrected proof in some book fair let me just say I’m so glad you are doing something different. I know you were worried because of all thr books of vampires and wolves but that’s the best part finally something different. The book is great. How many books will be on the series?

    • Jennifer Estep says:

Can you tell me where she bought the book at please? The proofs are not supposed to be sold.

I’m glad you guys enjoyed the book, though, and liked the mythology aspect. Right now, I’m under contract for three books — Touch of Frost, Kiss of Frost, and Dark Frost — but I hope to write maybe five or even seven books in the series. We’ll see how it goes.

      • Susan says:

Hello. She said it was given to her at a English teacher conference in Florida. She mailed me 5 books and this was one of them the other she bought but that one was given to her. But I still can’t wait for the books to come out.

        • Jennifer Estep says:

Hmm. That’s probably okay then. That sounds like something my publisher might have done as a giveaway. Anyway, I’m glad that you guys enjoyed the book. 😉
