Thank you for writing this post. I’ve been waiting for it. I’ve seen some of the online Owen backlash you mention and it makes me sad. I also pretty much avoid it, partly because my own feelings about Owen are uncertain. I still like him and I hope that he and Gin can work things out but his actions in WW were disappointing and I’d be lying if I said otherwise.

My biggest complaint really has more to do with Eva than with Gin. Never mind that Salina tried to kill Gin (which a huge thing too, make no mistake) AND Cooper, but she tortured Eva as a child for who knows how long and would’ve kept doing it if she hadn’t been caught. Eva, Owen’s beloved little sister, and she was still so terrified of her and wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night knowing that Salina was still out there in the world somewhere. And yet, Owen offered Salina the choice of leaving town and never returning. O_O

I was with Owen up until that point. I liked that he met with Salina in front of Gin and declared that he was with Gin and that he later told Salina that he loved Gin and his future was with her. That was all good. It was GREAT, but THEN he had to go and offer Salina a get-out-jail-free card and it was like….whaaaaaaat?! It just seems that it was a slap in Eva’s face, not to mention Gin’s. I’m not saying that he had to be down with the idea of killing Salina but at least lock her up at the asylum place but to just let her go? No, no, no. That’s where my biggest disapointment with Owen came in. I was on his side right up until then.

And I don’t dislike Owen at all, I just want to make that clear. I truly believe that he loves Gin and that everything he has ever told her about how he feels about her has been true. But the thing with Eva…after knowing everything that Salina had done to her…

Eh, I just need to read the next book to see what happens next. And I will keep reading, no worries there. But Owen is going to have come back strong. Flowers and chocolate won’t cover it, lol. But you say you have a plan and I trust that.

Thanks for commenting. I knew that I was taking a risk with what happens between Gin, Owen, and Salina, but I felt like it would be an interesting direction for the characters to go in, especially seeing how they dealt with everything.

I do have a plan. How well I execute it and what folks think of, well, we’ll see. But I will do my best to write the best stories that I can for Gin and readers.

Oh I have every confidence that you’ll execute it very, very well. You’ve always managed to get the emotionality (is that a word? lol) across in believable, truthful ways so I see no reason for that to change. I would not have felt so gutted when Gin and Owen broke up if you didn’t have that talent. I look forward to your next installment.

and I just realized that I posted my original comment to the wrong post. :-/

Thanks. I appreciate that. I don’t know if emotionality is a word, but I like it.

No worries. I know it’s a little confusing, with the comment button being on top of the post instead of on the bottom.
