Monday Morning Mailbag — What I’m working on this winter …

    MONDAY MORNING MAILBAG

Question: What are you working on right now?

Answer: A new year means new book projects. Woot! 😎

Here is what I will be working on this winter:

    • Right now, I am working on revisions for my Robin Hood-esque romantasy book. That will probably take me about 3 weeks (or most of January) to finish.
    • After that, I will probably start working on the copyedits for Galactic Bonds #6. That’s another 2- to 3-week project.
    • And then I need to start working on my latest draft of the second book in my Robin Hood-esque romantasy series. That’s another project that will take me at least a few weeks to finish.

So my writing schedule for January through March (and beyond) is already full, and this doesn’t include all the other things I do on a daily/weekly, like social media, updating my blog, newsletters, etc.

As much as I love writing, it’s always a little stressful juggling multiple books/series and trying to meet all the deadlines. 😅

    MY MOST RECENT BOOKS:

In case you missed it, here are my most recent books, which were released last year:

    • A Touch of Treachery, Section 47 book #3: This is a full-length book with Charlotte Locke and Desmond Percy. The super-spy couple are hot on the trail of their nemesis, but their mission quickly goes sideways.
    • Only Rogue Actions, Galactic Bonds #5: This is a short book (about 55,000 words) about Vesper Quill and Kyrion Caldaren. The two are training to learn more about their truebond when they are targeted by a new villains

Both books are available in ebook, audio, and print from all the usual retailers. Thanks for reading! ❤️

What books are you all working on or reading right now? What’s on your agenda for the cold winter months?

New year, same old resolutions …

Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s 2026 is off to a great start. 😎

It’s time to talk about New Year’s resolutions, but mine are usually the same from one year to the next:

    • Work less and spend more time with family/friends
    • Read more books for fun and/or read at least 50 books this year
    • Eat healthier/exercise more
    • Try new things/mark things off my bucket list (this includes everything from trying new restaurants, to taking day trips to places I’ve never been before, to going on longer trips to places I’ve never been before)

Some years, I do better at these than others, especially the whole work-life balance thing. I tend to have way more work than fun. But it’s all about progress, not perfection, right? 😂

What are some of your resolutions for the New Year?

Some of my favorite reads of 2025 …

I can’t believe we’re almost to the end of 2025. Where has the year gone?! It seems like January was just last week. Here are some of my favorite read this year:

    • Emily’s Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett: This is the first book in the Emily Wilde cozy fantasy series about a professor who researches faeries. Emily is a delightfully smart and grumpy heroine, and the descriptions of the faeries are both lovely and frightening.
    • The Serpent and the Wolf by Rebecca Robinson: After her mother’s death, Vaasa inherited a dark magic that is slowly killing her. In order to learn to control her dangerous new power, Vaasa forges an alliance with an enemy ruler, but devious villains threaten everything they are fighting to protect. This is the first book in the Dark Inheritance romantasy series.
    • Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: When eighteen-year-old Sawyer is offered a contract by her wealthy grandmother to participate in debutante season, she accepts the deal to learn more about her family, including who her father is. This is the first book in the Debutantesseries, and it’s a twisty young-adult mystery with lots of family secrets.

What were some of your favorite reads of 2025?

    ONLY ROGUE ACTIONS DESCRIPTION:

“This is space opera at its finest.”—Ilona Andrews, #1 New York Times bestselling author on Only Bad Options

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Estep continues her Galactic Bonds series with a new, action-packed adventure that blends science fiction, fantasy, and historical romance. This rollicking space opera features a mix of magic and technology, along with a soulmates story and “Pew! Pew! Pew!” battle scenes. Perfect for fans of Star Wars, Dune, Bridgerton, and Pride and Prejudice.

A WOMAN WHO DREAMS OF THE FUTURE . . .

Once upon a time, I was Vesper Quill, a lowly lab rat using my seer magic and engineering skills to repair broken appliances at a Regal-owned corporation. These days, I’m one of the most infamous and wanted fugitives in the Archipelago Galaxy, along with Kyrion Caldaren, my partner.

Kyrion and I are hiding out on a distant planet when we are offered a chance to train at a prestigious facility in hopes of better understanding our truebond, the psionic connection that lets us share thoughts, feelings, skills, and more.

Mastering our magic is the only way we can hope to defeat our many enemies and make my dreams of a safe future a reality, so Kyrion and I accept the invitation. But evil forces are at work, and our training exercise is not what it seems, plunging us both into another deadly situation with only bad options.

    A MAN WHO CAN’T ESCAPE HIS PAST . . .
I’ve always been Kyrion Caldaren, a Regal lord with telekinesis, telepathy, telempathy, and other powerful psionic abilities. I might have gone rogue from the Arrows, the Imperium’s elite warriors, but my fighting skills are as sharp and deadly as ever.

Vesper Quill and I need help with our truebond, so we agree to participate in a rigorous training exercise designed to test the depths of our connection. But a new enemy has other plans, and we’re soon separated and confronted with one dangerous obstacle after another.

But my love for Vesper is stronger than any forces set against us, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make my way back to her—and kill anyone who gets in my way.

Note: Only Rogue Actions is a 55,000-word book.
