Spider’s Revenge ARC giveaway …

I haven’t done a giveaway here on the blog in awhile, so here goes.

My publisher was nice enough to print some ARCs (advanced reading copies) of Spider’s Revenge, the fifth book in my Elemental Assassin series that’s coming out on Sept. 27.

I have two ARCs of the book to give away here on the blog.

The giveaway is open to folks ages 18 and older in the U.S. and Canada. (Sorry, overseas folks, but I am maxed out on my postage budget right now). If you win, I would appreciate it if you would read and review the book on your blog, Facebook, Goodreads, or wherever sometime around the release date.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment here on this blog post and tell me what the last good book you read was. The giveaway will run through Friday, Sept. 2. The winners will be chosen randomly and will be announced here on the blog on Monday, Sept. 5.

Happy commenting!

    Yay! Contest!

Last book I read was…um…See, I read a bunch of books at once and I’m not all that sure which one it was that I finished last. Either GREEN EYED ENVY bu Kasey Mackenzie or KINDLING THE MOON by Jenn Bennett. Right now I’m reading GRAVE DANCE by Kalayna Price, NIGHT VEIL by Yasmine Galenorn, EVERDARK by Elle Jasper and ANOTHER KIND OF DEAD by Kelly Meding. I did say I read a bunch at I time…

  2. Amy H. says:

The last good book I read was The Hour of Dust & Ashes by Kelley Gay (came out yesterday). There have been others, but that was the latest. I know its not mentioned, but if you’re interested in new books to check out I highly recommend Seanan McGuire’s Toby Day series and her Newsflesh Trilogy as Mira Grant is AMAZING.

  3. Robyn S. says:

Let’s see. I could go on and on because in the past couple months I’ve read a lot of books. To look at the last two books I read, it would have to be Ann Aguirre’s Killbox and Cassandra Clare’s City of Ashes.

  4. Erin says:

    Hihi!

First, welcome back to posting on your own blog! It was exciting seeing all the blog posts at the other sites, and I got to learn a lot of cool blog site because of your web-tours, but there is no place like home. ^.^

I read a ton, and I read fast…the last book I physically bought was Touch of Frost. Which is right up there with all the other well done YA books out there. I’m looking forward to reading more of that series. I also read a lot of digital works, and I tend to gravitate toward free books (since I need to save whereever I can.) So I d/l books to my phone through amazon. The last one I read was The Arrival (book 1 of the BirthRight Triliogy) by Nicole MacDonald. This book certainly was interesting. The author changes point of view a lot. First person, third person, omniscient so it gets a little confusing. Once I figured out which characters got which viewpoint, I was able to focus on the plot and it is a great and unique paranormal/fantasy/romance. However, I think it could use a good few rounds of editing. (It was free though, so I can’t complain too much!)

Hoping all is well with you and yours!
    ~Erin~

  5. Alaina says:

the last good book i read was Green eyed envy by kasey mackenzie… loved it! then of course i went on vacation for a week and forgot to bring a book…
i hope i win! thanks so much for the awesome prize!

  6. Deb Marcus says:

Just finished two: Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The President’s Vampire by Christopher Farnsworth. Completely different, but both worth the read.

  7. Brandie Lucas says:

I’m currently reading Blood Sacrifice by Maria Lima. Really good book, but I’d have to say the best one I’ve read lately would be Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. Excellent!!

  8. Audra Holtwick says:

Well of course it is TANGLED THREADS— i can not wait for SPIDERS REVENGE — mt birthday is Sept. 28th please pick me
thank you for your wonderful storytelling.

  9. The Other Amy H. says:

I recently started reading Pamela Clare and love her! I inhaled all the I-Team series and even dug into the historicals (not my usual genre).

Thanks for the contest! This is my “Must Have ASAP” this month!

  10. Sherry says:

The last book I read from your collection would of course be Tangled Threads!!! However the last good book I read, would be.. Hit List by Laurell K. Hamilton. I’m currently re-reading Happy Ever After (book #4 in the Bride Quartet) by Nora Roberts as I haven’t bought any new books yet. In fact, I am suppose to head to my local library to check out some books. I usually re-read my own library (my jammed pack bookshelf of books) when I don’t have time to head to the library or purchase books [which is what I am doing now].

ohhh… I’m so excited! I hope I get a chance to win the free copy of Spider’s Revenge and then get to use the new bookmarks you sent me for that. =)

  11. Kelly Wolf says:

The last book I read (just put it on the shelf last night!) was VEIL OF NIGHT by Linda Howard. It was an impulse purchase and really a fun read- easy and entertaining!

  12. stephanie L says:

Storms heart by Thea Harrison is my last book. Need to get back into the groove of reading, i’ve been naughty taking some time off reading in the summer. Cool contest can’t wait to read Spider’s Revenge

  13. debbie says:

Hi Jennifer, thanks so much for sharing your arcs with us. Hmm, the last good book I read is a really long list, but I’ll share a few.
I loved Touch of Frost- here’s really what I thought https://thereadingfrenzy.blogspot.com/2011/08/review-of-touch-of-frost-by-jennifer.html. And one more that stood out is by a debut author Mark Lawrence and the book is called Prince of Thorns and here’s what RT reviews said about it

    PRINCE OF THORNS
    by Mark Lawrence

    Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy

    RT Rating

A brilliant and at times brutal start to an epic trilogy by a debut author who makes his mark with a huge exclamation point. The characters shine, especially enigmatic Jorg, and the plot will make you shiver. Lawrence’s dialogue is masterful in its horrific beauty and enhanced by the narrative. This barbaric coming-of-age story is a must read for all fantasy lovers but will appeal to all readers with great imaginations.
At age 9, Jorg helplessly watched his mother and brother viciously murdered. His savior: the hooked thorn bush that kept him still as he watched the carnage that ended his childhood, his innocence and perhaps his sanity. Stuck in his father’s castle, Jorg escapes the post-attack captivity he feels and embarks on a journey that changes him forever. Four years on the bloody and war-ridden road of revenge later, and followed by his band of “brothers,” he decides to return home to the father who still incites fear in him. But when he gets there will he find a loving father or a hated foe? (ACE, Aug., 336 pp., $25.95)

  14. Sarah C. says:

This is a tough one ! When asked the last best book read, Sylvain Reynard “Gabriel’ Inferno” comes to my mind. It’s isn’t normally what I read but it stir some feeling inside me and stayed in my heart. Please Jennifer try this wonderful book.

  15. Erik Dewey says:

I just finished Carte Blanche, the new James Bond novel. While it had a few issues, it did feel like a Bond adventure and I enjoyed it.

  16. Felicia says:

The First Days by Rhiannon Frater—seriously this book has stuck with me! It isn’t my normal read (though anymore I don’t know what is normal) but it was so freaking good! I don’t give many 5’s (only 3 real ones this year–goodreads doesn’t do halfs so those don’t count) and it got a 5. Scared the bejesus out of me though 🙂

  17. Jami Ashworth says:

Right now I am rereading This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost to refresh my memory before I start her new book One Grave at a Time that came out yesterday. I ran across the Elemental Series about a month ago and read them in about a week. Can’t wait for Spider’s Revenge to come out!!!!!

  18. Hope says:

I’ve recently read Devon Monk’s Magic to the Bone, which was gritty and fantastic. I’m also enjoying Crane’s Disillusionist trilogy; the first two books, Mind Games and Double Cross, will be concluded when the third book is released later this year. Looking forward to the publication of Spider’s Revenge! I love how Owen’s kid sister gives him relationship advice *grin*

  19. Adrianna Gair says:

I just read a fantastic book Kindling The Moon by Jenn Bennett. I found it at Chapters just browsing around the Fantasy section. That’s how I find most of my books. I don’t like much mainstream uber popular books because most of those authors lost what writing is really about. That is why I love your books Jennifer! They are amazing!!!!

  20. Mitchell says:

I would love an advanced readers copy of your new book. As for the last “good” book I’ve read. That would be “The President’s Vampire” by Chris Farnsworth. Excellent book!!!

  21. Seantice says:

I read so many books, most of which are absolutely amazing, so I’ll just say that the latest book I read was “A Weekend with Mr. Darcy” by Victoria Connelly. I love romance, steampunk, sci-fi, fantasy, suspense, horror etc but there is a special place in my heart for P&P that extends to its sequels and variations.

  22. Sierra says:

The last good book I read was Enclave by Ann Aguirre. It was so phenomenal, and I thought that it was one of the best YA books I’ve read this year.

  23. Stephanie Eckstein says:

I just finished reading A Fist Full of Charms by Kim Harrison, and it was excellent. I’m new to her Hollows series, and am so glad I found it. The characters are so well drawn out, and I already feel so emotionally attached to all of them, and the story line was totally unpredictable, there were many times I thought “well I didn’t see that coming”.
I’m so excited for the release of “Spider’s Revenge”. I’ve totally been missing my girl Gin. I’m getting ready to reread Tangled Threads again (totally loved that book) in preparation for S.R’s release. Yay I can’t wait!!!!!
The cover for Spider’s Revenge is gorgeous, I think it’s my favorite so far.

  24. Jennifer Estep says:

Hi, everyone! Thanks for entering the giveaway and sharing what you are reading.

Sadly, I haven’t had much time to read lately, but I’m looking forward to reading some titles in my TBR pile, like Carte Blanche by Jeffrey Deaver; Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter; The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa; and Marry Me by Jo Goodman. I also have The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to read, since I’m probably the only person on the planet who has not read it yet. LOL.

  25. Evelyn says:

The last book I finished was actually Tangled Treads, but the current book I am reading is Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn. Great book so far, though I’m still in the beginning of the book. Nothing like a good murder mystery, romance set in the prestige Victorian Age to make a woman squirm in her seats! :3 Hope I win, dear, and if not I hope the review Spider’s Revenge is getting is descriptive and wonderful~! (:

  26. Louise says:

I read A LOT of books, but I’d say the last good book I read (yesterday) was A Local Habitation: An October Daye Novel by Seanan McGuire.

I introduced my hubby to the Big Time series and he’s loving it (it was lendable on Kindle). He’s interested in the Elemental Assassin series but it’s not lendable so we have use our kids ipods set up with each other’s kindle accounts as a way to share unlendable books. 😀

I haven’t read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo yet, but it is one of those I definitely want to get around to, but there are just too many books coming out from all my fave authors! My Kindle pre-orders are down to 13 (due to 2 releases yesterday).

  27. Lauren Mc says:

I just finished Spell Bound, the latest in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. Very happy with how she’s developing her series towards its end-game.

    Thanks for the contest!!

  28. VampireNovelFan says:

    Always a fan of contests!

The last good book I read was “Eat, Slay, Love” by Jesse Peterson. This series in general has been a surprise delight. I don’t really read the zombie genre, so I didn’t go in with any expectations but, like the Elemental Assassin Series, now I have to make sure I read every new book.

  29. Kristin says:

As corny as it may sound the last good book I read was Tangled Threads. I was introduced to the elemental assassins series by my Amazon recommendations about two weeks ago an I have read thru the series as fast as my limited free time would allow (I work 60 hours a week between two jobs). I have to say that this has truly become my favorite series and I am quite a ravenous reader, I was reading about 4 books a week before I started job number two. Gin is one of the most interesting characters I think I have ever read about. She is dark and complex and real. It’s not often that you find a literary character so multifaceted. Most heroines are either soft and vulnerable or hard and coarse. Gin is all of the above, well maybe not soft, but at one point or another we all see a side in her that we can relate to. Maybe more than one for some of us. Having a lead character that people can connect to in that manner truly makes this series stand out among all others to me. I will wait with baited breath for the release of Spiders Revenge, as you have shot to the top of my auto-buy list.

  30. Lynelle says:

The last good book i read was One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost.. which came out yesterday. I love that series and couldnt pit the book down!

  31. Amanda says:

Ooo last couple of good books I’ve read were Never Cry Wolf by Cynthia Eden and Tangled by Jennifer Estep. I’m always a sucker for a werewolf book and Gin drew me in to the Elemental Assasin series!

  32. Bonnie says:

Ohh goodie, I love contests. The last really good book I read was Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter.
I love your Elemental Assasin series & can’t wait for Spider’s Revenge.

  33. Becca B says:

Hey! The last good book I read was Demon’s are a Girls Best Friend by Linda Wisdom. It was very enjoyable and funny read. I can’t wait for the next elemental assassin book! I’m super excited about the big showdown that will go down in this book! Thanks for the giveaway!

  34. Anna says:

I’ve read many good books lately, but two made a deep impression.

Mind Games by Carolyn Crane was an absolute thrill to read. She offered something in the urban fantasy genre besides vampires and werewolves.

I also loved Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. It’s listed as erotic romance, but it’s really contemporary romance with the heroine debating whether she can handle the a certain aspect of the love interest’s lifestyle.

  35. Beth says:

Last book I read was Kelly Gay’s The Hour of Dust and Ashes, very good and Jeaniene Frost’s One Grave at a Time. Also just reread most of Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs!

  36. kelly mcgrady says:

The last good book i read was Lady of Conquest by Teresa Medeiros. I loved all her books they give me hope that people have a greater capacity to forgive than I thought. I also love any book by Shelly Laurenston. I have bought all the ones that are out so far. She gives such vivid and independent characters

  37. Lexie C. says:

The last GOOD book I read was The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. I was actually reading it and listening to it at my job (the full cast audio version) and though it didn’t immediately make me love it like I did his first trilogy (The Night Angel series) it definitely kept me engaged and I did end up liking some of the characters more then I thought I would. The second half of the book was more action-filled and definitely made me feel on the edge of my seat as victories were won and lost!

  38. Kerry says:

Gotta go with “And One Last Thing…” by Molly Harper, though I did listen to the audiobook rather than read it. I hope that counts. If you listen to books, you know that sometimes a narrator can make a good book even better and that is what Amanda Ronconi does here. (And unfortunately, the reverse is true. I say steer clear of Stieg Larsson books in narration unless you like the timber of tenured and bored history professors.)

I really enjoyed “How to Seduce a Naked Werewolf”, which is same author and narrator. While it does have the promised werewolves, it’s not really not urban fantasy but chick lit that happens to have a werewolf in it so I’m not sure why I avoided her actual chick lit book for so long. Well, audible kept recommending it over and over again so I finally gave in and bought it last week, and I should probably thank Audible for essentially force recommending this cute and funny book. As a bonus, my dogs really appreciate it when I latch on to a good audiobook because spontaneous long walks are a must-do when you want to keep listening to an audiobook and don’t have anywhere you need to drive to.

  39. Judy says:

I have read a bunch of good books lately; Darkfire Kiss by Deborah Cooke, Dark Descendant by Jenna Black, A Wild Light by Marjorie M Liu, Hunt the Moon by Karen Chance, but the last Great book I read was Endless Blue by Wen Spencer. I just finished it, and WOW, it was awesome. I liked it almost as much as her story, A Brother’s Price.

Unfortunately, your books weren’t on my recent list, because I read them as soon as they are released, and hey, aren’t you due to have another one out soon? *grin* Actually your Elemental Assassin books are all on my keeper shelf. I love reading them and was wondering… Have you thought about combining the short stories from your website into maybe an e-book? I know that Ilona Andrews has put their Curran POVs on Smashwords for their readers pleasure. Just a thought. Keep up the Great Work and I can’t wait until Spider’s Revenge comes out. 🙂

  40. MrsLeif says:

I would love an ARC to review.
The last 2 books I really enjoy were Lord of Scoundrels and Too good to be true (Kristan Higgans)

  41. Elise says:

I just read the latest in the Sirantha Jax series (a book I have been waiting so so long for) – Aftermath by Ann Aguirre! Can’t wait for Spider’s Revenge

  42. Van P. says:

Recently read and LOVED Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett, has everything I love in an Urban Fantasy. Thanks for the giveaway! Btw saw your cover for the 6th Gin book on TOR fb page, Lovin’ the green cover 😉

  43. Teri C says:

Ohh well the last great book I read today was One Grave at a Time since I love my Cat and Bones. I love the Elemental Assassins series, it has been fantastic all the way through. I read and review books all over, I would love the opportunity! Thank you.

  44. Brandy K. says:

The last new release I read was Darynda Jones’ second book – Second Grave on the Left. Now I’m biding my time re-reading some Patricia Briggs until the September 27th releases come around 🙂

  45. Stefanie C. says:

I just finished rereading George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series (rereading the first four, reading for the first time the latest book, A Dance with Dragons). Now I’m reading a great ARC called Tankborn by Karen Sandler. Fabulous YA book!

  46. Julie says:

Oo this is a little hard. Let’s see the last good book I read was probably White Cat by Holly Black. It was one of my surprise great reads out of nowhere.

  47. David F says:

So it does appear I’m kissing up I’ll list the last three good books I read:
    1. Tangled Threads
    2. Touch of Frost
    3. Strangers in Paradise (graphic novel)

  48. Hannah Sopko says:

IThe last really great book I read was Succubus Revealed by Richelle Mead. This is te final book I the Georgina Kincaid series. It was a great ending to the series.

  49. Mina says:

The last book I read was A Discovery of Witches. Can’t wait to read the sequel just as I can’t wait to read Spider’s Revenge. I really enjoy your books. Thanks for writing them.

  50. Shelli Reid says:

I am reading Venom, and really enjoying this series. I also enjoy reading anything by Charlene Harris, Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Chloe Neill, Jeaniene Frost. Almost too many to list. Thanks for all the entertainment.

  51. Andrea Genovesi says:

I read about 2-3 books per week so I tend to read a lot of good books. I’d have to say the last really good book I read was Tangled Threads last week. Even though I was teaching a workshop about how to write scientific grants at the time and needed my sleep, I couldn’t put it down. I read it in 2 nights. The story line for the series is just getting better. My only complaint is that I finish the Elemental Assassin series books too quickly. Glad Owen is the new guy.

  52. JenM says:

I’m just finishing up The Battle Sylph by LJ McDonald and loving it. This is more in the fantasy romance genre, which is something I normally don’t read much of, but this book was just great. The third book in the series, Queen of the Sylphs is going to be releasing this month, so my timing is perfect for starting this series.

Spider’s Revenge is my one must read of the month. I just wish it was coming out at the beginning of September instead of the end.

  53. krishna says:

LAst good book i read was hounded by kevin hearne. The protagonist is a 2000 year old druid, the action was great and it was pretty funny too.

  54. Deb@Debbie's Book Bag says:

I’ve read so many good books lately. One happened to be Plain Fear Forsaken by Leanna Ellis. The vampire myth meets the Amish religion head on… LOL… it was was a departure from what Ellis usually writes and I thought it was great!

Please enter me for a chance to win!

  55. Krystal Larson says:

I read about 7-9 books a week, loooong commute, and I just finished Everblue by Brenda Pandos 🙂 I would love to read and review your book for my site: https://livetoread-krystal.blogspot.com/, Shelfari, AuthorDen, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, LibraryThing, Goodreads, etc…and promote you on my blog as well. Thank you for the chance! edysicecreamlover18@gmailDOTcom

  56. Melanie McCullough says:

The last good book I read was the last book I read – Possess by Gretchen McNeil. I’d waited so long for it, I was worried it would disappoint me, but it didn’t. It was awesome.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  57. Brandy Ziemann says:

I am reading a book called “Hexed” by Kevin Hearne. It is the second book in a series – the fourth book will be out soon. It is about a Druid that has lived through the ages and how he stays alive even though all these gods keep pulling his strings. I like it a lot! Lots of parts that make my laugh and lots of action.

  58. Alisa says:

<3 your books! I just read your Mythos Academy series, the prequel and first book. Of course I've already read your Elemental Assassin series. I'm a fan!

  59. Giselle Cormier says:

The last book I enjoyed was the second book in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I’m currently reading Book #3 – Faefever. It’s an awesome series so far! Very addictive.

    Thanks for the giveaway!
(I posted this comment at the wrong place earlier – oops)

  60. KBee says:

The last good book I read was Mistborn: The Hero of Ages, by Brandon Sanderson.

I found the general philosophy of the story and the way the story elements held together an appealing read.

  61. Chris Trudeau says:

    Thanx for the give-a-way!!!

I just finished, Succubus Revealed by Richelle Mead. It was great but bittersweet because it’s the last book of the series… 🙁
I’m now starting, One Grave at a Time, by Jeaniene Frost.
    BUT I can’t wait for Spider’s Revenge!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  62. Kelsey G says:

Well, I read a lot of books every week. But I’d have to say that the last really good book I read was Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead.

  63. Katherine McCarthy says:

Hi Jennifer. I absolutely LOVE your series!! Gin is one of my favourite characters I have read in this genre and I make recommendations on GoodReads all the time. The last book i read is One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost.

  64. Juliana Sutanto says:

The last book I’ve read is blackdagger brotherhood. I’m kind of addicted. Well, I’m still catching up with the rest series. Btw, I got e-book of Jeanine Frost’s Night huntress 6. I’m so dying to read it.
