Break down …

So, a couple months ago, I started taking yoga classes. I’m not weirdly bendable at all, but I like it and it’s good for me. It’s exercise. It can’t hurt, right? 🙄

A new yoga/pilates studio recently opened in my area, and last night, I decided to go beyond yoga and try a pilates class.

I think I broke my core. 😯

That’s what the instructor calls the middle of your body — your core. Evidently, that’s what pilates is all about, working those muscles. You also use these band things for resistance training on your arms and legs. They remind me of cut-up balloons more than anything else. Slipper little suckers …

Actually, I’m not as sore as I thought I’d be. But there were some twinges when I got out of bed this morning. And I was definitely feeling the burn last night. But I’m going to go back. This will be the year I lose those final ten pounds.

What about you? Trying any new exercise routines for the New Year?

Definitely stick with Pilates! It hurts at first, but once you get past the initial burn, you get a great workout without it really feeling like a workout. I can’t wait to be able to do Pilates again! (My ever-expanding core prohibits me from doing them now, although I think the little one is busy doing them in there.)
