Finished The Creed Legacy by Linda Lael Miller. This is the third and final book in her Creed Cowboys trilogy.
After years on the road and a devastating personal tragedy, Brody Creed has finally come home to Lonesome Bend, Colorado to make amends with his twin brother, Conner, and the rest of their family. Brody also wants a second chance with Carolyn Simmons, a woman that he once had a relationship with but left behind. The attraction between Brody and Carolyn is as intense as ever, but Carolyn never really got over Brody breaking her heart, and she wonders if she can trust him with it a second time …
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I love westerns (whether they are contemporary or historical), and Miller’s books are just comforting, down-home reads. I know exactly what I’m going to get when I pick up one of her books — a sexy cowboy or two, men and women with strong roots and friendships with each other, a big extended family, and lots of pets.
This book follows that formula, but the elements just didn’t quite gel for me this time. My main problem with this book is that there just didn’t seem to be all that much romance in it. Brody and Carolyn talk and think about each other a lot, but it didn’t seem like they were actually on the page together at the same time all that much. I would have liked to have seen much more of them interacting with each other and working through their issues.
Overall, this book didn’t work for me as well as some of Miller’s other titles have, but if you like westerns, you should check out her books.
My grade: D+
Would I read this author again: Yes. Despite the fact that this book didn’t work for me, I still enjoy Miller’s westerns.
Memorable quote: “On the other hand, Brody reflected, the beauty of that land could heal, take a man by surprise, even though he’d called the phone home all his life. That day, for instance, the sky was so blue it made Brody’s heart ache, and the aspens, cottonwoods and pines lining the landscape were shimmering splashes of green, a thousand hues of it, ranging from silvery to near-indigo. The river wound like a ribbon through the valley, as clear as azure glass.”

I really enjoyed the teen novel Cascade by Lisa Bergren. Part two of her River of Time series.
I just finished Carte Blanche, the new James Bond novel. While it had a few issues, it did feel like a Bond adventure and I enjoyed it.
I just reread Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. Love that book!
I just finished reading A Fist Full of Charms by Kim Harrison, and it was excellent. I’m new to her Hollows series, and am so glad I found it. The characters are so well drawn out, and I already feel so emotionally attached to all of them, and the story line was totally unpredictable, there were many times I thought “well I didn’t see that coming”.
I’m so excited for the release of “Spider’s Revenge”. I’ve totally been missing my girl Gin. I’m getting ready to reread Tangled Threads again (totally loved that book) in preparation for S.R’s release. Yay I can’t wait!!!!!
I just finished Chosen by Paula Bradley. I have really enjoyed reading books by obscure authors I find mainly through the Kindle store (most free or cheap). This is another one of those great finds. I must say I REALLY miss Gin and Fletcher!!
I just finished reading “God, No” by Penn Jillette. He rambles in it a bit but overall it’s a good book about how people don’t have to have religion to be good.
I just finished The Vampires’ Birthright by Aiden James. It was the second installement in his “Dying of the Dark” series. I also just finished Kelley Armstrong’s “Spellbound”. And I am currently reading “Blood Bound” by Rachel Vincent (SO GOOD!!) and I am also just starting “Plague of Coins” by Aiden James. They have all been really good!!
I recently read and loved a historical romance by Jenn LeBlanc, The Rake and The Recluse, she included photo illustrations in the book as well, it was fabulous! I also just finished the new Night Huntress novel by Jeaniene Frost, it was alright, not my favorite of the series, but still pretty good
Book Savvy Babe
Just finished reading Firespell and Hexbound by Chloe Neill were pretty good but love her Chicagoland Vampires series more. And Richelle Mead’s new Bloodlines series was good to.
Recently read and LOVED Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett, has everything I love in an Urban Fantasy. Thanks for the giveaway! Btw saw your cover for the 6th Gin book on TOR fb page, Lovin’ the green cover
The last good book I read was Storm’s Heart by Thea Harrison. Her mythos and characters are very well written & the plot was exciting to. Plus, the H/h were a perfect match.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the latest book in your EA Series. It’s one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series.
One of the last really good books I read was Soul Reborn by Jean Murray. It’s her first in a trilogy about 3 sisters and it blew me away. It’s based on Egyptian mythos rather than Grecian and she paints pictures for you with her words that make you want to crawl into the book. The characters were richly portrayed as well as the scenery. I can’t wait until book 2 comes out.
Actually the last good book I read was your, I finished Touch of Frost a few days ago
But before that I read Grave Dance by Kalayna Price book two of her Alex Craft series and it was an excellent follow up book. Just like the first one I devoured the book in a day, I highly recommend reading them.
Thanks for the opportunity. You authors are awesome!
I just read Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine Frost. Great book.
Lots of laugh-out-loud fun with sexy vampires and a kick-ass heroine.
Cat and Bones together are amazing! They make me laugh a lot and they are a wonderful couple! Cat is a very strong and witty heroine. Bones is a charming and passionate hero.
The last book I enjoyed was the second book in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I’m currently reading Book #3 – Faefever. It’s an awesome series so far! Very addictive.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I just finished reading Beautiful Sins: Olivia Lowery Book 2 by Jennifer Hampton. It has great twists were supernatural live with everyday people and there are two different worlds. It is very interesting but she is a new author and up in coming testing her skills on kindle. She at times need a editor but is lacking on funds. I enjoy following new upcoming authors and watching them grow into great story tellers. I’ll read just about anything at least once but once I get hooked I’m truly yours! I’m currently reading Terry Goodkind Omen Machine and so far am very happy with it and so glad he is back after his break! Of course waiting for Spiders Revenge and Kim Harrison new book.
Regards,
Rebekah
Hard Bitten by Chloe Neill. Hard Bitten is hard core, packing a serious punch and this book along with the whole series is fantastic!
I just finished Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter and this book was soooooooooooo good. Most definitely a “must read”!
I read YA because they usually have a great story line. I sometimes get tired of ParaRomance because I feel like the story gets lost in the sex. With YA you dont have that problem. I love Kim Harrisons YA Madison series
I just finished re-reading Rachel Vincent’s Shifter’s series. I haven’t read anything new for a while since I currently lack the funds to buy more books. However, going on the last book I read for the first time, it would be Spellbound by Kelley Armstrong. An amazing series, with the only thing wrong about it being that it had to end.
ok, if someone doesn’t read their email and you have to draw again, please, please add me!
last book…i listened to THE MOON IS DOWN by john steinbeck…something was amiss as the last time i read it, the edition used germans as his point of reference, not a vague invader…it was still good but i wish i could find a copy that focused on german invaders wherein the german commander is talking to the village mayor trying to get him to ask the villagers to stop their fighting thereby saving his life. i can still remember the mayor’s responding that he could and it would make the people sad but they would not stop their efforts to foil the germans…’you don’t understand because you are a nation of sheep’… while i am not generally a steinbeck fan, this one really got to me…and the last time i read it was about 40 years ago!
