With all the guest blogs that I’ve been doing for Web of Lies, it’s been a while since I’ve done an update post on what I’m working on. Here goes:

1. As most of you know, Venom, the third book in the Elemental Assassin series, comes out on Sept. 28. I’ve finally gotten the final cover art, which is posted here. Huzzah! The book is also available for pre-order at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

2. What’s even better is that I now have Venom bookmarks as well. As always, these are free to readers/bookstores/libraries/etc. However, I do ask that folks send me a SASE to help me cover postage costs. If you want some bookmarks, send me an e-mail, and I’ll tell you how to get them.

3. During the summer, I plan to write at least one free short story (maybe two) to go along with Venom, just like the free stories that I’ve done for Spider’s Bite and Web of Lies. I’m also hoping to get the website updated this summer. We’ll see how it goes.

4. In other news, reader response to Web of Lies has been really great. I just want to say thanks to everyone who’s taken a moment to drop me an e-mail and let me know how much they enjoyed the book. Thanks, everyone!

5. As for what I’m writing, I just turned in the final page proofs for Venom, so I have a bit of a break from the Elemental Assassin series right now. I’m using the down time to try something new — a contemporary romance. It’s set in a small Tennessee town and focuses on an event planner who’s so strapped for cash that she agrees to plan her ex-boyfriend’s engagement party to another woman — and ends up falling for the other woman’s brother along the way.

After that, I have an idea for a romantic suspense/heist book about a woman who gets mixed up with a group of thieves. After that, I have an idea for another urban fantasy series … I think I’m going to have a busy summer, writing-wise. LOL.

Okay, I think that’s a wrap for now. Happy reading! ;-)

  1. I’ve been stalking ya so already noted that cover and release date. ;)

I enjoyed Web of Lies. I hope Detective Caine goes away and stay away. Never had a supposed hero whom I was 100% cheering for turned me off so much in one book. So glad that Gin has people who care about her around her. Brutal as she can be and yet so nonchalant at the same time, Gin is really a uniquely fresh heroine.

Thank you for all the updates. I’m loving the contemporary romance idea and I like to hear more about the other UF since I’ve been glomming a lot of the genre lately. The RS/heist, not so much curious as I’ve never been fond of that storyline.…

  2. Cool. I’m glad that you enjoyed Web of Lies and are looking forward to Venom. And thanks for the nice words about Gin. I appreciate them. ;-)

The UF and the heist ideas are still a little nebulous at this point. Especially the heist book since, you know, I need to actually figure out what the thieves are going to steal and how they are going to pull it off. LOL.

As for the UF, I’m thinking about something with three Ms — magic, mob families, and mercenaries. We shall see how it develops …

  3. Oooh, I really like the 3 M’s. If you need someone to read your draft, I’m all for it. :P

  4. Maybe if I ever actually get the book written I’ll market it as the “three M” book. LOL.

  5. WOW!That is one sexy cover. I finally got Web of Lies after like a month that my local book store hadn’t gotten them. They finally stocked on the books and I’m reading it this weekend. I cannot wait to read it and read Venom. I’m excited. You have officially become one of my favorite Urban Fantasy authors.

  6. Thanks! I think it’s pretty cool myself. Can I ask what bookstore that was? Just curious. Anyway, I hope you enjoy Web of Lies even more. ;-)

Thanks! That’s so nice of you to say.

  7. Surprisingly BORDERS. My local BORDERS is slow on stocking in new books. They always have them a week late or longer. My local Barnes & Noble didn’t have them either.

  8. Interesting. Thanks for letting me know. We only have B&N and BAM in my neck of the woods. My local B&N had some copies, but I guess they sold them all and haven’t restocked yet. I needed a copy for a contest the other day and couldn’t find one there. VERY frustrating.

  9. I’m not a big reader of contemporary romances, but I like your premise, so if you write it — I will buy (think Field of dreams)
    Also looking forward to Venom!

  10. Congrats on the cover … its fabulous! Can’t wait for Venom to come out. If you’re gonna be at Nationals, I’ll catch ya there for bookmarks.

  11. Jennifer — Heh. That’s funny. And flattering. ;-)

Liz — Thanks! I think it’s pretty cool myself. Nope, not going to RWA this year. I was when it was in Nashville, but Orlando in July is not my idea of a good time. Too hot for me! And too long a drive.
