Finished Alaskan Renegade by Kate Bridges. This is a historical romance set in the wilds of Alaska.

Nurse Victoria Windhaven needs a bodyguard to escort her through the Alaskan wilderness so she can go tend to some injured miners. But Brant MacQuaid is not what she had in mind — especially since he once broke off an engagement to her sister. Now Brant is a bounty hunter who’s on the trail of a dangerous criminal who’s fled to Alaska to escape the law. Sparks fly as the two set out into the wilderness, but falling in love isn’t the only danger that they face …

I’ve said it many times here on the blog, and I’m sure that I’ll say it again — but I’m an absolute sucker for westerns. I just love the genre. I enjoy just about every western romance that I read, and this one was no exception.

Bridges has a nice, easy-to-read style, and she really makes the Alaskan setting come to life. I also liked how the relationship between Victoria and Brant gradually developed, and the fact that they both gave in a little in order to get their happily ever after.

Overall, if you like westerns like I do and are looking for a quick read on these cold, snowy days, give this book a try. Thumbs up.
