Finished The Bourne Betrayal by Eric Van Lustbader. This is another book by Van Lustbader that features super spy Jason Bourne, a character originally created by the late Robert Ludlum.

In this one, Bourne is pressed back into action once again when his friend, deputy CIA director Martin Lindros, goes missing. Bourne just doesn’t realize that his friend’s disappearance is part of a much larger plot that involves nuclear weapons and more (isn’t it always?). But Bourne does his deadly best to find his friend and save the world — before it’s too late.

This is basically another globe-trotting thriller featuring the Bourne character, full of all the fight scenes and exotic locales that you’d expect. It’s a solid enough book, but the original Bourne books by Ludlum are still better. So for that reason, I’m going thumbs down on this one — even though I know I’ll read the next books in the series at some point.

Up next: The Sword-Edged Blonde by Alex Bledsoe.
